Piccola Strada
Piccola Strada, located at 77 E 4th St, New York, NY 10003, is an Italian gem tucked away in the heart of Manhattan. This cozy, intimate spot offers a relaxing escape from the city's hustle and bustle, making it the perfect destination for those craving traditional Italian cuisine in a charming setting. With space for just a handful of diners, reservations are essential to secure a table at this popular venue.
The restaurant specializes in hand-crafted pasta, paired perfectly with your choice of wine, thanks to their BYOB policy (a $5 cork fee applies). Whether you're enjoying the classic chicken parmesan, tender osso buco, or the savory eggplant parmesan, each dish is made with the finest ingredients and reflects the true essence of Italian cooking. A fresh mozzarella, tomato, and arugula salad makes for a refreshing start to your meal, while the cannolis provide the perfect sweet finish.
The ambiance is intimate, with the restaurant seating only about 15 guests, which gives it a cozy, almost familial feel. While the space can feel a bit tight, the food and service more than make up for it. If you're a fan of traditional Italian flavors and don’t mind the limited seating, Piccola Strada is a must-visit. The delicate balance of cheese and sauce in the chicken parm is especially noteworthy, though the pasta may leave you wishing for a slightly more al dente texture. Despite these small details, the overall experience is thoroughly enjoyable.
With its great food, friendly atmosphere, and the option to bring your favorite bottle of wine, Piccola Strada stands out as one of the best hidden gems in New York’s bustling restaurant scene.
Piccola Strada Reviews
Cute little Italian restaurant that serves up nice tasting, traditional Italian fare You must have a reservation. We cleaned our plates.... Chicken parm , eggplant parm, and osso Buco as main dishes. A nice fresh mozzarella , tomato and arugula salad as a starter and cannolis to top off our dinner!
Of course I'm going to grab some Italian when back in NYC. This spot is a great hole in the wall option, but I think it literally sits 15 people so may be hard to get a table or can easily feel too small. But the food is solid, the chicken parm had a great balance of cheese and sauce, and the chicken didn't exactly have the burntness I like but each bite was really nice. The pasta was fine, not very memorable and small but still enjoyable, I do wish though it was more al dente and less sauce-heavy.
Came here with family on last day of weeklong trip to NY, and it was lovely. It's a wonderful, small Italian family restaurant. We sat outside on the covered streetside patio - which was, like the street, quiet and pleasant. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and the owner was our waiter. He was very old world - very friendly, but let us take our time over everything. Everyone's food was outstanding, various starters and pasta dishes cooked perfectly and with goldilocks proportions. Had coffee after and then some of the nicest cannoli I have ever had (and I've had many). Highly recommended if you're looking for a nice Italian meal (or any kind of meal) in the East Village. Wasn't an issue for us, but there's no booze there. You can bring your own wine (which you can get nearby) with a $5 corkage. If you want cocktails have them before (and/or after) at the many nearby bars, as they don't allow hard liquor.
This restaurant has got to be one of the cutest mom and pop shops in New York. If you know, you're in the know. The restaurant is not good if you have a group larger than 15 people, but the cozy intimate atmosphere is what makes it so special. Plus you can actually talk with whoever you're getting a meal with! I came here for a work dinner and basically my team rented out the entire restaurant for the night. The staff really just took care of my entire team and everything was really delicious. The food was not life changing but if you're looking for a good simple dinner with minimal corkage fees, this is the place!
Loved trying this Italian restaurant tucked away. It's the perfect place to relax and get away from the bustle of the city. Reservations are needed, and they have a $5 cork fee for BYOB. We loved getting to bring our favorite bottle of wine to pair with our handmaid pastas - everything was delicious.
